What We Collect
When you request an offer we collect your name, email address, phone number, and—if you accept—the pickup address where we meet you. We also keep the short answers you give us about the computer itself: whether it powers on and works, whether it has any known problems or physical damage, and what you are including with it. Our free Windows app reads the hardware components inside your desktop (processor, graphics card, memory, storage, motherboard), along with the PC’s make and model and which edition of Windows it runs, so we can price it. As you browse the site we also collect basic analytics such as pages visited, referring site, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
If you are on a phone or a Mac and ask us to send you the link to open on a Windows PC, we keep the email address or mobile number you gave us so that we can send it, and so we can follow up about an offer you started but did not finish. Ask us at offers@cashforpc.com and we will delete it.
Our Scanner App
The CASH FOR PC app is a read-only hardware scanner. It reads only the information needed to build your offer—it does not open your files, photos, documents, passwords, accounts, or browsing history, and it does not change anything on your computer. It sends that list to us as soon as it has finished reading, and shows you the same list on screen, so what we received and what you can see are the same thing. Alongside it travel two housekeeping details: the app’s own version number, and the name of any reading that failed (just the word gpu or ram), so a part that is not there is never mistaken for one we could not read. Our scanner security page lists every item it reads, and publishes the file’s checksum so you can verify the copy you downloaded is the one we published.
The app also derives a one-way fingerprint of the machine from its motherboard serial number, processor ID and network adapter address, so that scanning the same PC again returns your existing offer rather than a second, different one. Only the resulting hash is sent—the serial numbers themselves never leave your computer, the hash cannot be turned back into them, and it identifies that PC alone, not you and nothing you do on it.
How We Use It
We use your information to generate your cash offer, contact you about it, schedule a pickup, pay you, and improve our service. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Text Messages & Phone Verification
When you provide your phone number during the offer process, we may send a one-time verification code by text message to confirm the number is really yours. By entering your phone number, you consent to receive text messages from us about your offer and pickup; standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
Every text we send is about a transaction you started. There are two kinds: a one-time verification code; and, once you accept an offer, a confirmation that asks when you are available so we can schedule your pickup or drop-off. We may also call or text you personally from our business number to coordinate. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. We do not share your mobile number, or your consent to be texted, with any third party for their own purposes — the only companies that ever see it are the providers that deliver our messages on our instructions, and they may not use it for anything else.
Message frequency varies with your offer — typically no more than a few messages per sale. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, or HELP for help; you can also contact us at offers@cashforpc.com and we will remove your number. Opting out of texts does not affect your offer — we will simply reach you by email instead.
Recent Payouts On Our Website
To show that our offers are real, our homepage displays a rolling list of recent purchases using a first name only, the amount paid, and the date. We never publish your surname, contact details, address, or anything about the contents of your computer. If you would prefer your sale not to appear, tell us at offers@cashforpc.com — before or after pickup — and we will remove it.
Payment
When you sell us your PC we pay you at pickup—in cash or the e-pay app of your choice. We do not collect or store your bank or card details.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to connect the app to your visit (your pairing code), to remember which ad or link brought you here, and to keep your place if you close the offer page part-way through—which means the name, email address and phone number you have entered are held in your own browser until the offer is finished. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.
Advertising & Third-Party Analytics
We advertise on Google and Facebook/Instagram (Meta). To measure whether those ads work, we use Google Analytics, Google Ads and the Meta Pixel on this website. These services set their own cookies and receive information about your visit — pages viewed and whether you downloaded the app — along with your IP address and general device information. You may later see our ads on Google, YouTube, Facebook or Instagram because you visited this site.
If you arrived from one of our ads, we store the advertising click identifier from that link (for example Google’s gclid or Meta’s fbclid) and keep it with your offer record. Later, when an offer is accepted or a computer is purchased, we report that result back to Google and Meta so they can tell which ads produce real sales. That report includes the click identifier, the offer amount, and a one-way encrypted (hashed) form of your email address or phone number — never your plain contact details. It does not include your address or any information about the contents of your computer.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Under California law (and similar state laws), the advertising measurement described above is nonetheless treated as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out at any time:

The CASH FOR PC desktop app itself contains no advertising or analytics trackers. Opting out has no effect on your offer, your pickup, or what we pay you.
Sharing
We share information only as needed to run the service—with the providers that host our infrastructure, deliver our email, and send our text messages, each acting on our instructions and for no other purpose. We also share the advertising measurement data described above with Google and Meta. We do not sell your data, and we disclose information only if required by law.
Retention & Your Choices
We keep offer and pickup records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and support purposes. To ask what information we hold about you, or to request correction or deletion, contact us at offers@cashforpc.com and we will respond promptly—you do not have to have sold us anything to ask.
Children’s Privacy
Our website and app are not directed to children, and we only buy computers from adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at offers@cashforpc.com and we will delete it.
